Hi Ron and Barry,
Just finding your messages but I'll chime in. I do use feeders as I mostly raise whites and some AOCs/red checks. I don't like to take chances with the poor parenting skills of young Kings figuring out how to feed their babies those first critical days, along with poor nest building/roosting, etc. But many have success without feeders such as Kim Miller in Pennsylvania. You have to have a lot of time and culling to find the best parents. I also use individuals but having a community of two to four pair in a large area with large, private nest boxes often work. I have a two-pair pen too.
Best of luck and enjoy the hobby. Larry |
