For those unfamiliar with "pincer toenails" it is a term used to describe toenails wherein there is an excessive transverse curvature of the nail plate (humping up) which causes either digging in of the nail margins into the nail groove, or, in severe cases, entraps and pinches a portion of the nail bed. As with all deformities of toenails, other than as a result of frank trauma, it is generally not possible to determine the precise cause of the mal-shapen nail plate. But the deformity is generally predestined by some abnormality of the living nail matrix tissue which gives rise to the non-living tissue which is the nail plate. Although there have been many who have attempted straightening out such nails by working with the non-living nail plate, I have never known of this to be successful. Treatment generally involves either temporary removal of the offending nail margins on a periodic recurring basis or the permanent destruction of either the offending segments or the entire nail plate, both by surgical or chemical/surgical means. None of these treatment choices is something that should be attempted by a non-professional.
