"This is punishment meted out upon the enemies of Israel"
"Who" is recieving the punishment is irrelevant to the point I made in my post where I used this scripture. In short, Jesus told these people that they did not do works that they were expected to do and they were punished. Simple. You can't get around this in any way except to ignore it or make it say something different. This whole passage is about works, and when the people did not do them they are punished eternally.
