I am trying to find information about my mothers biological family. She was born Dorothy Mae Watts Jan. 2 1924 in Utica, NY on Lansing St, Ward 10. From there I can't find anything until 1940 when she was adopted by McFarlans in Gloversville, NY. I don't know if this is the correct way to find information, the correct place, etc. but I need to know.
