I own an Asus EeePC 1000HA, and I love it: great battery life, solid coottrucsinn, easily upgraded to 2GB of RAM and a real Airport Extreme card (the ones available as a service part for MacBooks and some Dell models). And I used it for iTunes video playback while in France, and even on battery power, it played Batman Begins very well: only minimal frame rate drops in the most action-packed scenes, otherwise flawless. The 1000HA has a 6-cell battery, which can get 6+ hours in most frugal mode, but gets 5+ in normal use.BTW, if you want to get a netbook to make into a NetMacBook, get the MSI Wind. While it's not as user-upgradable as the Asus, it's more compatible with Mac OS in terms of all the components and drivers (though the EeePC 1000HA can be made to work more-or-less only lacking Ethernet in the end). Needless to say, I've stuck with XP, and it works great! |
