Sounds like you may have a 'march fracture' they are spontanious fractures of the metatarsals and were/are common in soldiers. I'm presuming your in the USA so you need to see a Sports Physiotherapist or a Podiatrist who knows about sport injuries. Strapping will help as will wearing lace up boots/shoes with stiff soles. I've been at band camp for 10 hours a day for the last 2 weeks, and yesterday while I was marching (marching using the rolling your feet method), I felt an instant, shapr pain in the arch of my right foot. I'm an athlete and am no stranger to pulls and strains. Is this what this is? And how can I alleviate the pain that happens whenever I walk now? I have wrapped several layers of tape around the arch and have taken an anti-inflamatory pill. Is this all I can do? |
