I had foot surgery on Aug 23rd and have not been able to walk since. I had a broken needle in the heel of my foot 2 years ago and was told then that if it didnt bother me, not to worry about it. Well.....2 years later, my heel is so tender, I cant walk on it. I go to a surgeon and he said it needed to be removed. When he went in, he waid the needle had rusted and broke into 3 pieces, which he removed. On my return visit to his office, 6 weeks later, he informed me that there was a 3mm piece still there, but not to worry about it, so I didn't. So here it is now Sept 30th and I still cant walk. The entire bottom of my foot is numb. I was referred to a Neurologist and she said I have Reflex Symp. Dyafunction (Neuropathy) and she wants me to get an EMG done - which is fine, but it will take 3 weeks before I can get that done. My question is, after that, will I have to have another surgery? Should I keep my appointment for physical therapy on Oct 5th?
I had to quit Nursing school because I can not go to clinicals on crutches. Tho there is a long waiting list, they have made room for me in the January classes. I am really concerned if I will be able to walk by then.
I am using crutches now and have fallen 4 times (not getting the nack of using them) I want my foot back!!!
Any ideas or suggestions???
Thanks for any input.
Respectfully,
