In South Dakota, as an adopted person, you can contact Patti Reiss's office in Pierre 605-773-3227 and she will send you a packet with instructions on what to fill out etc...there should be 3 forms, on one there will be about 4 boxes to check asking you what you are wanting,,,,check ALL of them. You will be able to get your original birth certificate (will have at least your birth moms name on it), and adoption paperwork that was filed with the courts, and also medical records from your birth. The only cost to you would be the amount per copy of your Original Birth Certificate and stamps. The process is pretty simple and quick.
