Attention Colorado adoptees and birth parents! Two bills passed by the Colorado legislature are now law. SB 51 gives adult adoptees access to adoption records held in court files as of 7/1/14. OBCs for previously closed time periods (7/1/67- 8/30/99 and pre - 7/1/51) become available 1/1/16. Birthparents can obtain a copy of the OBC they signed effective 7/1/14. Per HB 1042, other relinquishment records become available to the birth parent 8/7/14. No court order is needed - simply provide proof of identification and pay a small fee to the court or state agency.
