Prior to surgery I had a Callus form on my left foot. At first it was small and mild, then after shaving it off 2 times it became large, and extreamly painful. I also have flat feet. After X-ray examination my dr said that I would need surgery to cure both problems on both feet. On both we're shortening the two bones to the side of the big toes, and his planting a screw in between the bones of the ankle (not sure exactly how to describe that correctly but anyone w/ knowledge on this procedure will know what I'm talking about) So, I've had the 1st surgery on my left foot. It's been two weeks (tomorrow) and the cast came off yesterday. I've now been given a boot, and we just cut the callus off as well. This has resulted in a large gash now on the bottom still extreamly painful. I have noticed that when I tried to move my ankle (tilting it mainly side to side) or put pressure on my ankle it sends quick sharp pains. My question is 1 what should I do to correctly heal the cut from the removed Callus (so that it won't form back) and 2 how long are these sharp pains going to last and when would be a good time to apply preasure and try and walk. The dr has planned the other surgery in about 12 days from now. I've decided that I want to put it off for about a month. If there are any excersizes for ankle recovery I would definately like to know some, also if there are any vitemins pills what ever that provoke bone recovery. I'm lucky that I can be off my feet completely for about another 2 weeks. Any response is appreciated. |
