I've been dealing with intense heel pain for a long time now (2+ years) and after seeing my GP she sent me to get night splints, told me to do stretching exercises, etc. after telling me I had plantar fasciitis sp?)
Since my problem has not gotten better, I went to a podiatrist today and he told me I do have plantar fascitis but my bigger problem is tight arches. He said the only thing he would do for me is tell me to go get a shoe with a 1-3 inch heel on it, that he wouldn't do anything else for me until I've worn that shoe with a heel for at least a month.
My question is, are shoes with a heel the answer? Is there anywhere I can find info about tight arches?
Are birkenstocks okay to wear? They don't really have a heel, but I'd prefer not to wear a wedge or heel if at all possible. This treatment plan just really throws me for a loop, and I'm not sure if it's the best idea. Anyone have any insight? |
