The "Auga" Again.
With the recent high-profile exploration of finless surfboards, The Surfer's Path last Monday sent out an email with a picture of Derek Hynd riding a finless board at Supertubes, Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa. The board -- from my perspective -- looked like Mike Eaton's UEO model without the quad bonzer fins. But the film of Derek riding the board was exactly the same form as the Bing Team guys riding the Auga in the late '60s and early '70s - crouched, with endless rotations.
Bing's in the forefront once again.
