Last week the Radio 4 BBC programme `Today' had a piece on Lord David Sainsbury's contributions to New Labour now amounting to £8.5 million. It was mentioned this could have affected the planning permission given to Sainsbury's on the Richmond Manor Road gasworks site which had been earmarked for the new ice rink. Lord Sainsbury has written to me denying any such connection and `resents' the very thought. I have robustly replied. |
