Is plantar fascitis the cause of heel spurs ? When the heel spurs cause a pain that feels like a sawing sensation in the heel about one inch up the back of the heel -- not on the bottom of the foot -- would orthotripsy to help reduce or remove the spur be something to consider. This sensation occurs with every step.
Thank you also for your previous reply. It is difficult to describe pain as each area of pain is different.
Thank you again

It is generally theorized that the same stress which causes plantar fasciitis, also frequently causes the formation of heel spurs. But the spur itself is not generally considered the cause of the pain. I know that lateral x-rays of the spur makes it look as if the spur is a pencil-point sharp object, but this is not at all the case. The spur is a rather blunt portion of bone extending 1/3 or more of the width of the calcaneus. What you are feeling most probably has nothing to do with a spur.

If I were you, in spite of the pain which may result, I would run, not walk from the suggestion that an osteotripsy be done for this situation.

If you have plantar fasciitis, conventional, conservative treatment which has a high rate of success is widely available. Should that fail, I generally recommend the endoscopic plantar fascial release.
