It would be not presumptuous for me to hang my hat on your stated belief that your pain may be of nerve origin. But that being said, there are some local nerve problems which might produce pain in the heel. The ones which come to mind include:
1. Neuroma of a nerve within the heel
2. Tarsal tunnel syndrome
3. Baxter's nerve entrapment
There may also be non-local nerve cause, such as neuropathy or entrapment of a nerve which eventually serves that portion of the heel or nerve root pressure at the spinal vertebral level.
Of course, there are a myriad of problems which can cause heel pain and are not nerve related. The most common cause of heel pain seen by podiatrists is plantar fasciitis, but the locus of pain in such cases in not generally the side of the heel.
