I just heard the NPR show Fresh Air..and the interview with Leidy's mom... I am so touched, so impacted. I too am an English teacher, and I have a 19 year old daughter, living with her dad right now..and studying to be a nurse. I wish to tell Leidy's mom that I feel deeply for her..and I am almost crying now... but we can only pray that our daughters are safe.. and her expression of her ongoing grief is important for all parents or anyone who has lost a loved one to violence. Thank you, thank you..for your excellent, important and sensitive poetry...may you continue to heal as best you can... |
