I agree the aquatic population is down significantly, and think the reason is the months of excessive rain. When the tailwater turns into a sluice of water 5 to almost 7 feet high it washes the larva out of the stream bed and banks. Last year we did have a fair trico hatch and a modest midge hatch. This year I've seen almost no tricos and and few midges larger than size#32. I haven't seen caddis for 4 years. My guess is the trout population is also down. Don
