Dear Mr. Hampe,

Thank you for sharing your wisdom in "Making Documentary Films and Videos." I have nearly completed what has been a real education for me.

I started making my first documentary film nearly two years ago, but after reading your book realize I have made a number of mistakes. Fortunately, I have a lot of great footage and am in the process of obtaining missing elements, as well as splitting the film into two shorter films so as to make each one more coherent.

My question is this: When filming at a large event, such as a convention (one in which I have been invited to film)where I will be filming children, adults, etc., in action, such as playing ball or at a dance, do I need to obtain each person's/parent's permission to use their image or the image of their children? Thanks and peace,

Fr. james
