Hi, Read your story on the DC-3 stamps and history. Very good, but the only thing I differ with is the non issuance of a domestic Dakota stamp till of late. The air mail series of 1941 has been contested but is definitely a DC-3 aircraft. The long standing policy of the Post Office not to back any product always disguises the image on the stamp. This they did by adding the DC-4E tail to her. We collectors of aircraft have accepted this. Also she appeared on the comic strip series stamp of 1995-Terry and the Pirates.scott #3000r.There is another under contention- The UPU issue of 1949-scott#C42. The general appearance of this one is closer to a Dakota than it is to the Convair 440-1st flight Oct.1955.The convair 340, first flight-Oct. 1951, or The Convair 240 which did fly before the stamp but the tail is so radically differnt from the stamp that we ruled her out. With over 135 stamp issuing countries picturing the DC-3 and with the shortcuts in the design they use- you can spot a Convair or a Douglas produced aircraft pretty easily. I welcome your viewpoints on this. Happy collecting,,james
