I am looking for some C-47 answers for a Squadron/Signal Walkaround book. Any help or direction is appreciated.

-Starting when, if ever, were the tail cones left off of production aircraft?

-When was the switch from narrow (C-47-6353A-18, C-47A-6353A-18) to wide propeller blades (C-47A-6477A-0)?

-Floors: smooth or corrugated. Was this something from the factory or modified in the field?

-When were the fairings removed from wing joints?

-When were the pitot tubes moved from the underside to the sides? Sometime during the Vietnam War?

-C-53: Were the passenger and baggage doors the same as those on a DC-3?

-A number of pix show something that looks like a “doughnut” speaker thing on aft cargo door. Any idea what it was?

-Any good pix of the flame dampener exhausts?

-A number of WW II pix show tubes (3) extending aft of the wingtip training edge. Are there formation lights?

-When were the cabin window gun ports eliminated from production?

TIA,
Curt
