Hi all,

I came across the site here by searching for a forum. I had surgery on my right bunion on the 15th of September. I had severe pain in my baby toe, so much so that I returned to emergency.
While in emergency, trying to follow the nurse and a newbie on crutches, I tripped and caught myself on the foot that I shouldn't have. I contacted my doctor , who says that since I experienced no pain, I should not have damaged the surgical location. -That is all beside the point....
In emergency, nurses tried to remedy the pain by cutting the splint open on the outside of my foot, around my baby toe. Although the pain was most immeadiately taken care of, I found that in the following days (9,) I found the pain in that toe persisted. I now have pictures of the bottom of the foot, where something had been under that toe, and caused a deep dimple there, it was obviously the culprit, and now I am wearing a 4 week fiberglass cast.
The nurse who wrapped my foot thisd time was very careful and placed cushions on my shin, each side of my ankle, and around the entire area where my toes join the foot.
Anyway, reading other threads where people have had the fusion like I have, they are claiming the problems in their feet are even worse now that they have done so. I am looking for anyone who sees their case as a success, as it would provide help for me in the weeks ahead in my recovery.
I am 28 years old, and looking through these other threads, I have become somewhat disheartened by others' problems with their own surgery. I have always been very healthy (and active,) the prospect of becoming less active after this is beginning to frighten me.
I already have severe knee pain, which might be arthritis. I have three young girls, and have always been very active in my role as a mother to them.

Please, I implore anyone who has had success in this type of surgery to respond, let me know that it will be okay.

Thanks so much,
sheila
