My feet are sweaty especially when I'm in an airconditioned room. I'm afraid that I can even smell them even while I'm standing. What should I do to eliminate the sweat and/or the odor?

As you probably already know, sweat is not unpleasant in odor when it is first produced. Only when bacteria act on the sweat do their by-products of metabolism create the offensive odor.

I've had a great deal of success prescribing a product named DRYSOL, which is a prescription only astringent/antiperspirant. Several times I've been accused of saving marriages with this treatment.

Caution: Without explicit consideration by and advice from your doctor, I would avoid using this product if there are peripheral vascular considerations either primary or secondary to any condition, or if there is an underlying skin condition, irritations or infections.

The way I tell my patients to use it is:
1. The application should be made close to bedtime when sweating is normally minimal. The feet should be bathed and thoroughly dry before application. The medication is a clear solution and should be painted on the sole of the foot with a with a cotton ball, avoiding irritated areas of skin, cracks or fissures. Then allow it to dry completely. A white powdery coating may be noticed on the feet as the water of the solution evaporates.
2, Place a plastic baggy around the foot to occlude air and secure at the ankle with tape place around the bag, but not contacting the skin.
3. The feet will be very slippery to walk on with the baggy on, so take appropriate precautionary measures, such as wearing shoes or slippers if getting out of bed at night.
4. As long as irritation of the skin does not take place, repeat the above procedure for up to 2 weeks, or until the sweating is brought under good control.
5. Then, by trial and error, repeat the night-time procedure as infrequently as needed to maintain results.
6. If excessive dryness of the skin occurs, use an emollient of your choice during the day, but wash it off thoroughly before the next application of the medication.

This is in no way curative, but I've found that when my directions are followed, the vast number of patient get beneficial result.

I have no financial or other interest whatsoever in this product.

Hope this helps
