It could be innocuous, but it also could be evidence of a serious tissue breakdown and possibly an infection. At any rate, the prudent thing to do would be to have it looked at professionally, and to neither wait nor rely on definitive comments or guesses which you might receive here. Other than that advice, the obtaining of "thoughts on the matter as to what the hell it is" can serve no purpose of value, especially in light of the fact that no one here knows your medical, circulatory and sensory status.
