I was reading your articles on this disease and I have one question. I was diagnosed with this about a month ago. X-rays taken in August and December show a significant deterioration of the foot bone. I have one, maybe two, bone chips that show up on x-ray. My question is, should I be in a cast. My doctor put me in a boot and crutches and told me to have " Absolutely NO pressure" on my left foot for possibly six months to maybe a year.! I read in your article where casting is a very important part of the healing process. He has mentioned a cast, but can't decide if he should cast or not. What do you think. I have extensive nerve damage in my foot. I can't feel anything on the bottom of my foot. He did the needle test and I didn't feel a thing. My one complication is that my blood sugar is running in the mid 260's and I can't seem to get it down. Please give me your opinion on the cast issue. I would greatly appreciate it.
