Dear A,
Good question !
OCs are used for many reasons; to prevent the development of a dominant follicle in a cycle as well as for scheduling purposes during the testing phase prior to treatment as well as during an IVF cycle. Not all patients take OCs in an IVF cycle, and the length of time is variable. Best to check with your Doctor and Nurse to see if and why you may need them.
Good luck to you, Margaret Garrisi
