To do any good, the padding material has to be thick enough so that the bump fits totally within the aperture and the shoe hits the pad and not the bump. This will generally call for padding which is a great deal thicker than is generally available in the foot-care section of drug stores, so you may have to build it up with several layers to achieve the necessary thickness, cutting an appropriately sized aperture in each piece before layering. |
