The only thing I know about Tenerife is that the worst airplane accident in airline history occurred there in 1977 (exactly 30 years ago, one week from today), with over 550 deaths, when two Boeing-747 jumbo jets . . one a KLM, taking off, and the other a PanAm airliner, having just landed and attempting to exit the runway collided on a fog-shrouded runway, thought to be the result of poor tower/airliner communications and the cockpit culture in the KLM plane, which did not allow the co-pilot to over-ride the more senior captain's decision to take off blindly.

Though I do not profess to be a meteorologist, I would hardly think that the difference in air pressure you reference has any effect on the warmth of your feet.
