You state that the diagnosis of Morton's neuroma was ruled out because x-rays, blood tests and bone scans revealed nothing. First of all, I must inform you that none of those tests can detect a neuroma, so if your statement is accurate, the orthopedist you saw apparently has no clue about how to diagnose a neuroma. That is not to say that you DO have a neuroma . . just that the tests administered, if as you stated, could not have ruled it out.

As far as what the cause of your moving pain and stiffness is, I haven't a clue based on what you have offered. Real diagnosis is a structured procedure which only begins with the patient's statement and description of complaint. There needs then to be a physical examination, lots of questions and answers, manual and sometimes laboratory, radiologic or other tests. The vast majority of that process cannot be conducted in venues such as this which are really not intended for the making of diagnoses in specific individual cases. But I always get annoyed when one of my fellow podiatrists prescribes some sort of insoles for a condition which he or she has not been able to diagnosed. It has been my experience that, for many conditions, just about anything placed in a shoe frequently seems to help for a while.

It doesn't sound to me that your symptoms are so terribly unusual that with proper and skillful diagnostic technique a cause for your problem cannot be determined. An accurate diagnosis is generally the linchpin on which an effective treatment plan can be formulated and implemented. You need to have a real evaluation by a qualified podiatrist. The answers are generally there if someone knows how to listen for an hear them.
