I have had 4 surgeries in the last 2 years on my left ankle. The first was a calcaneal osteotomy with achilles tendon lengthening which was followed by tarsal tunnel surgery. A year after the first surgery the graft had not taken so at that time the graft was re-done and the sub talus joint was fused. That fall, the peroneal tendons needed to be repaired as they were dislocating and causing a lot of pain. It has been 10 months and I am still in great pain especially in the outside joint area. The pain extends up about 6" in my leg making it very difficult to walk. There is also a lot of swelling and I am wearing a compression sock. I am seeing a podiatrist at this time and am wondering if a second opinion with an orthopaedic Dr would be next. Am I wrong to think that by this time I should be getting around better and having less pain? The other 2 joints in my ankle aren't good and are narrowing, but the Dr doesn't want to do any further fusion at this time. Thanks! |
