There are many potential causes of burning sensations in the feet, which unless they are caused by a local irritant or a dermatological condition, are usually symptomatic of a neuropathy. Only since you mentioned Vitamin B12, pernicious anemia, which is a condition thought to be of autoimune origin is but one of the potential causes of neuropathies and burning sensations in the feet. This condition is one of vitamin B12 deficiency resulting from its poor gastric absorption due to the loss of function of the cells in the stomach which secrete hydrochloric acid. But clearly, instead of basing treatment on supposition as to the cause of such a possible neuropathy, you need an evaluation of the sensory nerve supply to the area and a neurologic and medical evaluation to detect any systemic, metabolic and/or disease causes of neuropathy. I would advise not attempting self-treatment which may have the potential to modify the symptoms that your doctor must evaluate. See him/her ASAP. |
