I was involved in a head on auto collision 6/30/06 that resulted in a badly broken and displaced talus. The displaced bone compressed the plantar nerve bundle. The surgeon, who did a wonderful repair job on me said the nerve was intact, so expected a full recovery of the nerves. I've had a long recuperation due to AVN of the talus setting in. Luckily, that's all revascularized now. I'm finally full weight bearing on the foot - 10 months later. However, the ball of the foot and some toes, and sometimes other parts just don't feel normal. There's a spongyness to it, and I can't do much walking or I suffer for it. From what I've read it sounds like some form of a periperal neuropathic condition, caused by the injury. I'm wondering, will this reverse itself in time?

I appreciate any advice for coping with this situation. Thanks!
