Of COURSE you should see a doctor, and not just a general ER doctor, who will probably look for a fracture only and send you on your way if none is found. I don't know what you mean by "one of those folks whose ankle can 'roll'" unless you are saying that you have recurring ankle sprains, which, the more you have, the more you are likely to have. I can't tell you what the "different" feeling is all about, as I don't know what your "usual" feeling feels like. But sprains, especially of the ankle, must be adequately assessed and properly treated, else you may be at high risk for permanent disability and instability of the joint. But if you only think it is worthwhile if something very wrong is detected, then maybe you might consider not, if you have a child, taking him/her to a periodic routine examination at the pediatrician, or canceling your home and auto insurance, as if you've never had a problem . . then what a waste of money. Going to a good doctor to be assured that nothing serious is wrong is NOT a waste of time or money.
