It is unlikely that either your ankle swelling or your problem in walking (other than due to possible pain from the top of the toes rubbing on the shoes, and perhaps creating painful corns) has anything to do with your hammertoes. I have no idea what sort of problem your father has been treated for with the device you describe, or what even the device, itself, might be. You need to see a podiatrist or other appropriate specialist, and maybe a vascular specialist both for a name (diagnosis) for whatever you have and for treatment. |
