My athletes foot have become more severe; could it be due to long wearing of working boots for some time ( I used to wear Timberland boots at work and at home all day). Would it help if I change to wear some more ventilated sneakers while at home and on holidays?

First, it would be helpful to know if you really have a fungus infection as you state. There are many dematologic conditions which the lay public generally assumes is athlete's foot infection but may not be. Appropriate care would mandate that an accurate diagnosis be made.

If you do have a fungus infection of the feet, that which you suggest may be somewhat helpful, but there are plenty of good medications, both OTC and prescription only which do a pretty good job at controlling, if not completely eradicating this problem. Most of the really effective OTC product, not all that long ago, required prescriptions. Perhaps the most effective products are the oral anti-fungals which do require prescriptions as well as a medical evaluation prior to therapy. The treatment is short-term, but liver tests should be taken prior to and during their usage. Generally, the meds of which I speak are taken for 3 months, and 4 to 6 months later the fungus is generally gone . . frequently permanently.

I would suggest a trip to either the podiatrist or the dermatologist.
