Thank you much for your responses. I was treated for breast cancer with chemo and radiation, completed both last year. The bone scan was actually a mistake by the hospital, my oncologist had ordered a bone density test. Regardless , it showed no bone mets. I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy about halfway through my chemo, so about March 2004. My oncolgist does not expect the neuropathy to resolve.
The radiologist thought the scan showed degeneration in the feet probably from the neuropathy. I am 48, and was in excellent shape before my ca diagnosis. I gained about 20 pounds during my illness. There is a history of diabetes in the family, but I've not had any problems.
The pain in my feet is pretty intense sometimes, though I've had some improvement with Lyrica and wearing birkenstock shoes. I've wondered/heard about orthotics. The pain is pretty much where the bone scan showed degeneration, the middle of my feet to the heels.
I will speak to my oncologist when I see him again, and my family doctor as well. I appreciate any suggestions you have! |
