I am a podiatrist and have also studied acupuncture. I regularly manage neuropathic pain with acupuncture. Usually I suggest to clients that they undergoe a course of management, say 4-6 sessions within 2-3 weeks and then re-assess their symptoms. If no improvement by then try something else or if improvement then start to spread out sessions to once a fortnight or month, whatever is necessary to control symptoms.
If your 2nd met is sore you may need some biomechanical adjustment also.
