I was reading through your site and I applaud you for supporting youth sports. I have two teenagers and what I find that bothers me most is that 14 seems to the age where our kids get dropped from playing in leagues whether they are recreation or have standings. I so agreed with the words when you discussed the cost and committment needed to play club ball. My child loves to play softball but also loves to some other things. The fact that she has other interests, I believe, make her well rounded, not non-committed to one sport as she has been referred to as by some of those "club" parents. She's interested in continuing to play softball and improve in high school but feels the pressure of competition with always taking a back seat to the club players who act as if their skills are superior to hers (not the case - as she has worked her way into the line several times lately).

What can be done to raise the magic age to 16 in some less expensive leagues so more kids can continue to play?

Thanks for listening to my banter.
