Over exposed, the most common mistake photographers make is to over exposed their shots. Wash out the picture with too much light and you have literally nothing. In the digital age the value of white or no color is “0” that means no information collected on the CCD. It is hard to work with nothing. Black has a value of 255x255x255 too much information, but better to work with than “washing out the color” so there is nothing to adjust. In raw format you can recover values of color, but 0x0x0 is still zero! So it is better to under expose your shots than to over expose. Light is expressed in terms of temperature and measured in degrees Kelvin and true Sun Light is 5500K. A good flash will simulate that of true Sun Light and replace colors such as Red lost by depth. One only has to look at the rainbow to see what the sun does to color and that is what we are trying to simulate when we carry our little sun underwater with us. Use your preview LCD and check your picture for over exposure and take another at a higher F-stop if you are not sure. Also think in terms of diffusers and aim as you try to simulate the color of the sun and make those colors pop!
