The following is part three and the last installment of work flow:

I just found a portable hard drive for $149.00 and it is a USB powered 250gige drive! Anyway back to the topic! On your hard drive you can also carry your programs on your drive plug it into someone else’s computer and bingo you have your files and programs.

Now make a pass trough your files for your top pictures and adjust and crop as needed. Now I do as stated last time and open the files that interest me the most. When I have done all that I am going to do with the picture and have it saved as both “Finished” or “Web Ready” I have away of sharing what I have done on my web site or emailing at hand. The subject here is how do I find the one I want? As mentioned before I try to keep them by date in a folder, but not by date within that folder, as I use the continuous setting on the Camera file system as the first part of my file ID! When you save use the “Save as” button in the file tab and then in the save as box you will see the numeric file number and it will be darkened. Now put the curser over the box at the end of the number chain. Click the mouse, if the number disappears cancel and come back in, the curser should be blinking behind the last number, and this is where you need to put in a short description. Example P1013345 Blenny on coral head 8-23-07. You now have the camera info and the name and date. The reason you do this is with the numbers in front you will not change the taken order, yet you will have a description of each picture, and you can use the same verbiage without over writing a previous file. This will put all your pictures in chronological order and you won’t have to worry about over writing files when you save to your hard drive or a sub folder.

Now I can decide what to do with my pictures. I can print them, publish them on the web, make slide shows, or other projects that you can do with digital.

So that is my work flow from camera to computer and on to project. The key is two things: Keep it simple and do not duplicate your actions whenever possible. Also try to develop a routine in all your actions. It will help you in not forgetting those easy little steps that can be forgotten so easily.

Now go forth and take a lot of pictures and stay organized it will give you more time for Diving and Pictures!
