I am curious if anyone has any information or thoughts about how Durst became Darst. In my family my Grandfather was born as a Durst and all his brothers remained Dursts but by the time of his death he was called by Darst. My fathers history is somewhat similar and he always maintained it was unintentional and that the family was confused with other families in town who went by Darst while his uncles did not live in town and the confusion did not extend to that part of the family. Most of my cousins on that side of the family went by Durst but there are other parts of the family that also got changed to Darst. I would be interested in hearing anyone's ideas or any family lore on this subject.
