Hi Paula,
Nice hearing from you. No, I never did contact that AP reporter, however I was a docent on the William G. Mather (a Cleveland Cliff's freighter) docked downtown near the Science Center for 10 years, and met people from all over the world.
I was supposed to take the Mayor of the Port City of Bangladesh on a personal tour, but we were crowded and they added several more people, and he got angry and only went as far as the pilot house, then quit and got off.
I got short of breath one day at the pilot house, mentioned it to Sharon and she had me checked out. I had a four-way bypass about three years ago.
A Monica Robbins interviewed me on the 35th anniversary of the sinking which not only appeared on Channel 3 in Cleveland,an Akron as well on November 10th.on
We drove past your backyard on Route 96 on the way to Manistee to visit my son and his family several times. Of all the places we've been...Alaska, Cancun, Meditteranian,
British Columbia, and Frisco, Michigan is still the best.
Regards, George/Sharon |
