I am looking for the birth parents of my great grandfather, He was listed as Roy Ross in the 1910 Census, living in OK. He was around 2 years old at the time and listed as a boarder with the Goatley family. Here is all the info I have from my grandma:
Roy's mother apparently put an ad in the Kansas City Star Newspaper, offering him up for adoption. He may have had a younger sister that was not adopted out. Laura (Chandler) Goatley went and picked Roy up and handled whatever arrangement. I don't think it was an official adoption. She died not long after and her husband Henry Goatley re-married a woman named Mae and had many more children. Laura Chandler and Henry Goatley also adopted a girl named Maude Marie born around 1912 and another boy named Ray or Harry born around 1900.
Due to the lack of information, my grandma and her siblings have never known who their father's parents were. I wish I could find something, it would make my grandma so happy. |
