Hello. My maiden name is Lisa Marie Sanborn. I was born in St.Petersburg,Florida on June 30, 1966 at 11:28 am. I don't know which hospital for sure (maybe St. Pete general) but my birth # is 109-66-054388. I was immediately placed in the Hillsborough Co. Chapter, Gulf Coast Division of The St. Petersburg Childrens Home Society. The agency's representative that handled my adoption was Pearl McEwen. What little info I have about my birthparents says that my birthparent's families knew each other. My mother was of Swedish-German descent w/ medium brown hair and blue-grey eyes. She was 5'6" tall and weighed 140 lbs. She was the only child of parents that separated when she was very young. She was then sent to live w/ very strict relatives. (it also says she was mentally capable/I don't know the reason for including that info.) She liked sports, especially swimming and she liked fishing. Her favorite subjects in school were Home Ec. & Phys. Ed. She quit school in the ninth grade and got married at the age of 16. She was separated from her husband at the time of the pregnancy but was starting reconciliation. The info I have says she wanted the adoption because of her early life and broken home.
I am unclear as to whether my birthfather was her husband or not. He was of English descent w/ a thin build and medium bone structure. He had dark, wavy hair and dark eyes; was quiet and soft-spoken. He also dropped out of school in the ninth grade and left home because of a bad home life. It says that he had been married and divorced. Papers say reasoning behind adoption was that they didn't love each other enough to marry. It sounds to me like I was the child of an affair during a marital separation. It get's rather confusing but I'm sure they were not married to each other.
I would love to find any members of my birth family. Whether they would like to get to know me is entirely up to them but I'm at least begging for a little information.
I know I'm a little old to just now be doing this but I've always chickened out during my past attempts. Also The Children's Home Society is not very helpful in these matters. I do understand the reasoning behind closed adoption, but even just registering should not be as difficult as it is. My adopted brother is from Alaska where the records are not sealed and was able to find his family very easily.
If any of this sounds the least bit familiar please respond.
