Adoption Search Resources
Idaho is a closed adoption state which means that identifying information about parties involved in an
adoption is not available without consent of the parties or a court order. Idaho does allow for direct court
petitioning of adoption records with “good cause” to do so. Petitions must be filed in the county court
where the adoption finalization took place.
The Child Welfare Information Gateway is a comprehensive internet resource including information on all
aspects of adoption, search and reunion.
