My family bought the Sunshine Hospital in 1944. At the time, my grandmother was 29 years old, and the wife of Jack Rice. She has told the story of a vacant building with patient rooms and 2 to 3 beds a room. There was one room that was full of empty bassinets. Another room was empty, and had square white tiles from floor to ceiling (delivery room). She was told it was a maternity hospital that had been closed down. (a dropped baby was mentioned)
The Sunshine Hospital was renamed the Floridean Rest Home in 1944 and cared for elderly patients since that time. I became the fourth generation to run the facility. Sometime after 2000 a 60 year old woman came to my office searching for clues from the address on her birth certificate.
