Hi. Here is what you can do to try to find James Franklin. Assuming that James Franklin is your father (it is possible your bio mother had an affair but his name is on the birth certificate), you could first obtain a copy of the marriage license application which is public record. You would have to know the county and state and approximate year, but that would most likely contain the names of both of their parents (marriage license applications usually do). From there, go backwards and try to find info (obituaries, etc.) about your paternal grandparents. That will give clues as to the names of James' siblings, etc. It may also indicate a city for James. You may also be able to get a copy of the divorce decree. I'm not sure if they are filed in the county where the marriage license was obtained or in the county where the divorce occurred.
