After waiting there years I received the Pre-Adoption OBC from New York City for my mother. The mystery is the birth mother is listed as Emeline Kent, age 22. She delivered a baby girl on March 26, 1925 at Plaza Hospital in midtown Manhattan. The doctor signing the birth certificate is Dr. George E. Browning. When I search for Emeline's name on Ancestry.com, she is listed as living with the Browning family as a "maid" in the June 1925 New York census. This is baffling. I'm wondering what the connection is to Emeline Kent and the Browning family. Also, the trail runs cold and there's no mention of Emeline again anywhere. |
