Hi Billy,

We actually flew with our dog from Panama to Barranquilla. We wanted to take a sail boat but we decided to fly because we were told that our campervan would ship tp Barranquilla within one day and the sail boat trip takes 2-3 days. We ended up waiting a week for the campervan to arrive so we could have done the sail boat trip afterall.
It's been four years since we first started our trip but I had emailed a guy called Captain Marcos about taking our dog on his boat. I still have his email saved! It's freshaircharters@yahoo.com
I was given his information from another traveller's blog which I found when I was doing our research. Her name was Lorraine Chittock and her website is www.onamissionfromdog.com
She brought her two dogs on his boat.
So if your dog can't fly, then you can definitely take a sail boat from Panama to Colmbia. A lot of the backpacker hostels in Panama sell 2-3 day trips through the San Blas islands and arriving in Colombia. Like I said, it's been 4 years since our trip so that Captain Marcos may not even be there anymore but it's worth a try to email him. Otherwise when you get to Panama you should have no problem finding a company that will take your dog along.

Good luck and safe travels,

Sheila
