How to Conduct a Party

Prepare supplies and pre-pack prior to event. Press should be wrapped in beach towel.
Bring tote bags and extra t-shirts in preparation of additional guests
Show up 15-30 minutes prior to start of party wearing uniform.
Arrive. Unpack equipment and put on dolly and go to front door.
Introduce self to party host
Special hello to birthday child, if applicable
Ask party host where the kids will be for craft activity/party
„X Make observation of area
„X If on table that is unprotected, protect by using placemats
Ask party host where you/animator can set up heating press and other materials
„X There must be something (wall, chair, etc) separating area with heating press from the reach of the children
„X Heating press has to be on a flat surface that can support weight of heating press
Ask party host where you/animator can hang up display
„X Explain that rope is not heavy..just put pages (not t¡Xshirts) on line so kids can choose image
„X Need to hang on a curtain rod or from door to door or on stair rail
„X If nothing is available, just lean images against a wall, sofa, window ledge, etc.
„X Hang up images
Gather kids
„X Ask them do they know what they¡¦re going to do
„X Totally amazing
„X Explain craft/activity and how much fun it will be
„X Provide instruction
o FIRST RULE: Do not approach heating press.
„X Can burn self
„X Can burn you (children)
„X Smells funny and you won¡¦t like it when you smell it
o How to color image using pastels
o Color in the dull area. Do not color in shiny area.
o Careful on edges so don¡¦t go outside the lines
o Use fingertips brushing up and down to spread color smoothly over image
o DO NOT USE FINGERNAILS AS IT WILL TEAR IMAGE
o If you drop a pastel, please pick it up and put it on the table or it will make a mess on the floor.
o Show them a sample of an image
o Give tips & tricks
o Say later they can use glitter and glow in the darks (6 years old and up only)
Have party guests pick their image. Birthday child first!
„X Write name on top corner on the back (flipside) of the image using a sharpie or pen (not at the edge¡Kmay bleed over)
Take out black pastel from each pastel pack
„X Keep pastel cover
„X Have each child come up 1 by 1 to pick up pastel pack
„X If someone asks why they can¡¦t have the black pastel:
o Explain that the black can smear/smudge image
o Can use black when finished coloring the rest of image
o If want gray color-use black at the end and color lightly then swirl with finger
Party guests can begin coloring image once s/he has his/her pastels
When party guests are half-way thru coloring image, bring out glitters.
„X Glitters will be shared
„X Have them turn in pastels when they¡¦re ready to use glitter.
o Supply each guest with a paintbrush as they turn in their pastels
Give instructions on how to use glitter
„X One glitter at a time using paintbrush, not fingers
„X Dip paintbrush into glitter and use up/down strokes to spread glitter on image.
„X If need a new glitter color, clean paintbrush with baby wipe to remove old glitter first
„X Do not put glitter thick. Putting more on will not make it have more glitter, it will just make it clumpy and messy.
„X If using glow-in-the dark, make sure to do it last.
„X If complaints about glitter odor, advise odor will disappear after 1st wash
As party guests finishes coloring image, select appropriate size shirt, then lay image on top of shirt
„X As they¡¦re turning in image, make positive comments about the image.
„X If image can be improved, make suggestions
„X Make sure no pastels or smears on outside of image
„X Shake off excess pastel
When all party guests finish coloring images, ask if party host can tend to children, preferably to take them outside of the area of the heating press.
„X If not or older children, explain to kids again to stay away from the area
Turn on heating press
„X 300-315 degrees
„X Make sure in well ventilated area, preferably cool area or opened window
„X Insert wax or transfer paper inside shirt
„X Make sure image is free of excess pastel and smears, especially on edges
„X Make sure image is aligned, especially squared images
„X Using timer, press image onto shirt for 25 seconds
o Look inside shirt. If wetness, it¡¦s due to glitter. Press for an additional 10 seconds.
„X Leave transfer paper on shirt until the big reveal
„X Repeat process until all images are pressed on the appropriately sized t-shirt
Turn off heating press
„X Turn off heating press.
„X Clamp down heating press to move it.
„X Put heating press on floor.
„X Take beach towel and put it over the box then take press and put on top of beach towel so towel is laying in box on top of press
„X Unclamp heating press
„X Cover heating press with beach towel.
Gather party guests
„X Tell them how they did a good job
„X Explain the big reveal-show excitement
„X Ask birthday child if they want to go first or last
„X Call each kid up and do big reveal as a countdown
„X Have each child put on t-shirt
„X Ask party host to take a group picture
„X Close party
Clean-up
„X Put black pastels back into pastel box
„X Mark any boxes that have broken pastels
„X Pick up all materials, placemats, hanging display
„X Pack materials
Distribute Washing instructions and remind kids to give washing instructions to parents.

Collect payment
