Simpler times. Growing up in the Cortlandt/Peekskill/Put Valley area was fun. We're one of the last generations pre-computer/hi-tech and relied on imagination, camaraderie and curiosity to get our kicks. Just some random memories of those days. Feel free to tack on some more!!

Santa visiting Beach Shopping Center by helicopter.
Roller skating at the converted Baldwin Place theater.
Seeing Jaws at the Beach Theater and hearing people scream when the shark appears.
Bobby Brazee’s beautiful '55 Chevy rumbling around town.
Rio’s Pizza on Rt. 6 and Lexington Ave.
Carroll’s Burgers.
Turkey Club sandwich at Woolworths in Beach Shopping Ctr.
Sid's and Genes Army and Navy (so much neat stuff).
The Gemini Club (Southern Cross Band, Rat Race Choir)
Ice skating on the local lakes.
Bruce Lee Triple feature at the Paramount Theater.
Italian Combo at the Submarine Galley in Peekskill.
Tubing down Hollowbrook Creek (watch out for Old Man Jamison!)
Sleigh riding down the hill behind the Middle School.
Sneaking apples from the property next to Panas after school.
Watching the soap box derby on the hill next to Beach Shopping Center.
Trips to Mohansic Park. Listening to WABC, WNEW or WPLJ on a transistor radio.
Mr. Jiggs (the rollerskating, cigarette smoking chimp!), the Harlem Wizards, Donkey Basketball.

Little, if any, of these exist any longer. Except Mr. Jiggs who is rumored to live in a retirement home in Florida!
